#readathon Mid-Event Survey and Update #teampenguin
Mid-event Survey
1) I am currently reading Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
2) I have only completed one other book, When Breath Becomes Air
3) I don't know, it depends on how long Jane Steele takes me, but probably Jane Eyre and Scarlet.
4) Haven't had many interruptions, except me feeling tired from a night earlier in the week in which I didn't sleep much.
5) What surprises me every time is the ability I have to just sit down and read something.
Update
The past 6 hours have gone a little slower than the first 6, primarily due to a nap I took for about an hour or two, but other than that, I am holding steady.
Pages read total: 407
Pages read since last update: 141
Total books read: 1 and a half
Total hours read: 12
#Readathon Update No. 1 #teampenguin
Its a little over 6 hours in and I am starting to feel it a little bit at the moment, but I am mostly yearning for lunch.
Here is what I have done:
Pages read: 266
Books read: 1
Time read: 6 hours
I completed When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi and it was amazing. It is a really good book, meditating on life and death and what it means to be human. It was a library read and there were a number of quotes that I liked that I would have loved to highlight, but I think I will have to purchase this book at some point. While the book has this sadness that envelopes the book, it has a hopefulness about it. It is philosophical, but its not at that elevated level that can lose me.
Back to reading.

24 Hours Readathon - 2nd Update #readathon
I had thought I would be updating more than I have up until this point, but the important thing is that I have been reading. Since my last update, I have completed one book and am almost finished my second one. I have currently read for about 11 hours, which considering my "nap" between 6 am and 10 am and the two hours I took to do some things in town this afternoon, is pretty good. I realize that the next 6 hours are going to be a bit of a challenge, but I have made a dent into the shows left on my PVR and am actually seeing a difference in how much I have left on it. I have also read over 500 pages since my last update about 11 hours ago.
Wish me luck in the next 6 hours.
24 Hour Readathon - First Update #readathon
As I write this, it is almost noon on the west coast of North America and coming upon Hour 8 of the readathon, I believe. I manage to read for the first hour, starting at 5 am, but at about 6 am I couldn't stay awake and needed some much needed sleep. So I did and slept until about 10. While I am still a bit tired, I managing to get through Bone and have read quite a bit of the book.
During the 3 hours of my time reading, I have read about 300 pages and seem to read more each hour. I am also going to donate $2 for every hour that I read to my local food bank. The reason being is that they have had some financial trouble and aren't getting the donations that they usually get at this time of year and I felt it would be the best bang for my buck and a good way of helping out my community.
Next update should be in a few hours. Happy reading!

#hsreadathon - Update 1
What a busy two days for me. And for most of you that view this post, it will be Wednesday by the time you do view it. It has been a fairly successful two days of the read-a-thon, in that I got Alchemy's Daughter completed and reviewed. So that is off my plate. And if you want to, you can view the review here.
As for my plans for the next two days, I am probably going to work on Travelling to Infinity by Jane Hawking and work on getting that book completed. I am probably going to post some more reviews here in the coming days, if I can find my notebook with my rough copy of reviews that need to be posted, but I know I have it with me.
Hope those of you who are participating are getting your reading piles down.

#boutofbooks Update #6
Today was a bit better reading wise, but still didn't spend the full day reading; am hoping that I will be able to that tomorrow, as I don't have anything really planned. I hope to get at least part 2 and completed from Vanessa and Her Sister and start Book of Life and get the first little bit completed.
While I know that there is no really sanctioned twitter chat, I will try to come around and chat with some of my fellow readers at some point during the day.
Happy book dreams.

#boutofbooks Update #5
While I didn't finish anything, nor get anything really completed, I did start reading Vanessa and Her Sister on Friday and am in the process of possibly starting two other books that I am wanting to get done. Thankfully it is the weekend and so I will probably be able to get a little more reading done after a fairly busy week. Maybe I'll stop to watch the series finale of Mad Men this coming Sunday evening and to attend church and to do a few other tasks that I would like to get done.
Here's to a happy weekend of reading....
#boutofbooks Update #4
Thursday was a bit more successful of a reading day, in that I did actually complete a book off my list, All the Bright Places. I don't know how much I will be able to read today, but if things work out, I shouldn't have an issue getting some reading done. I don't know if I will get anything completed, but I'll see.

#boutofbooks Update #3
While I did expect not to read a lot today, I did kinda expect to read during the evening. That didn't exactly happen. I didn't sleep well overnight and due to some social engagements I had during the afternoon, I was exhausted. And the last thing on my mind was sitting down and reading. But I did go to the libraries that I have membership with and pick up materials I had requested. The next few days should be better, but sometimes life throws you curve balls that you can't anticipate.
Hope you all have pleasant bookish dreams.

#boutofbooks Update #2
While I didn't read the amount that I had hoped to, I did read a bit more than I did on Monday. The reason for the lack of reading was due to the fact that I was busy for a good portion on Tuesday, cleaning in the afternoon and at my Bible study group in the evening and by the time I got home, I was feeling tired (I didn't finish the movie that I had hoped to watch prior to going to be). Wednesday will probably look somewhat the same, as I have a number of things up in the afternoon, but I am not as busy in the evening and hopefully I can get some reading done then. Thursday through Sunday are much more freer and looks like I will be able to read for most of them. Happy reading.
#boutofbooks Update #1
Didn't read as much as I hoped to; was hoping to complete All the Bright Places on Monday, but due to waking up late and having stuff to deal with, I didn't really read much. I tried to read this evening, but some reason my head wasn't in it. I hope that this afternoon will be a little more productive. And by not reading much, I read like 10 pages.

#readathon Update No 1
Since my work schedule has gotten in the way of me doing a complete readathon, I am doing it in chunks. So for my first chunk, I read from the start at 5 am PT until about noon PT. I got about 123 pages read and managed to complete The Narrow Road to the Deep North. And then I took a bit of a break to get myself ready for my shift.
For the next chunk, I will probably do it from about midnight PT until 5 am PT. I'll probably read Horrorstor.

#wintersrespite Update
So far I have been quite successful in completing three books, but they were books that I was in the midst of reading and two that were almost done. Still not bad. I hope to be equally successful in the coming days, but I am not going to put too much pressure on myself to get them done before Sunday. Happy reading.

#boutofbooks - Day 5
Busy couple of days of reading. On Thursday and Friday, I worked on Harry Potter and was able to finish it yesterday (Friday). I also started Daisy Miller. Don't know how much I'll get done today, but I am hoping to complete it and possibly start The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Happy reading.

#boutofbooks - Day 3
I knew that I wouldn't have a lot of time to read yesterday (according to what I would normally expect), but I still managed to work on Harry Potter and should be able to complete it sometime today and hopefully work on another book.

#boutofbooks - Day 2
Like Monday, I didn't read too much on Tuesday, but I was able to get a bunch of Harry Potter done. I am hoping that I will be able to get a little more done (and also get to bed earlier), but only time will tell.
Happy reading.

#boutofbooks - Day 1
Didn't really read too much today, as I had stuff I had to deal with personally. But I did manage to finish Mr. Miracle and work a bit on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I probably won't get much done tomorrow, as I am planning on going to see Unbroken tomorrow night, but I hope to read a bit more of Harry Potter.
