#wintersrespite Update

So far I have been quite successful in completing three books, but they were books that I was in the midst of reading and two that were almost done.  Still not bad.  I hope to be equally successful in the coming days, but I am not going to put too much pressure on myself to get them done before Sunday.  Happy reading.

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon Sign up #wintersrespite

When I saw this come across either my Facebook or Twitter feed, I knew it was that time again.  I am really looking forward to this.

The readathon is fairly simple: just read.  You don't have to read a book with any theme to it, but can read whatever you chose to.  You can find out more information and sign up at Seasons of Reading.

Here are the books that I aim to work on during that week:

• Station Eleven

• The Miniaturist

• Fall on your Knees 

• Pioneer Girl

• Ella Enchanted

• Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

#wintersrespite Update No.1

I got quite a bit of reading done today, at least compared to the amount that I have been reading over the last couple of weeks.

Here is what I did:
• worked a little bit more on both Possession and Winter's Tale today
• got A Great Game by Stephen Harper started and its looking like I could potentially get this one completed during the coming week.
• made plans to get more books worked on during the week (at the time of me writing this post, I am planning on reading into the wee hours of the morning so I can get a bit more of Flight Behavior done).

#wintersrespite Starting Post

There is nothing that goes better than winter and reading, at least in my books.  And one of my fellow bloggers clearly thinks the same way.  And honestly what better excuse could there be.

And for me, this seems like the perfect way to get myself reading again, after about a week or so off from reading on a regular basis.

Here are my plans for the week:
• finish the first epoch of The Woman in White
• get a bit more of The Count of Monte Cristo, War & Peace, and Winter's Tale completed.
• try to get a bit more into Possession and Flight Behavior
• start reading The Goldfinch

I will see how things go and I am hoping that I get most, if not all of it crossed off.

A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon - Starting Post

I have done this readathon before and I have always looked forward to this one every time I have done it. And this year is no exception.  The readathon by Michelle (The True Book Addict) through Seasons of Reading.

Due to the fact that its my birthday week, I don't know how much I will be able to get done, especially during the weekend, when I would get a lot of reading done.  But that isn't going to dissuade me from getting reading done, as there will probably be a lot of time read when I am not engaged in other activities.  But who knows...

Here is the list of books that I plan to tackle:
• The Weed that Strings the Hangman's Bag
• Persuasion
• Pride & Prejudice
• War & Peace
• The Whole Truth
• HP and the Order of the Phoenix
• Definitely not Mr. Darcy

Time will only tell how much I will get done.

Of course, like most read-a-thons, the books read must be novels or novellas, adult or young adult are fine, and you can read children's books too (as long as you do read some novels too). You DO NOT have to participate the entire week. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early...whatever works best for your schedule. As long as you sign in at the sign-in post and do some kind of wrap up post, you're in for the big giveaway at the end. As with my previous read-a-thons, it will be a week of relaxed reading during which we can personally challenge ourselves and whittle away those ever looming TBR piles/shelves/libraries. I hope you will join me!

I will not be hosting any mini-challenges, as we learned from my last two read-a-thons, focusing on the reading rocks. However, if anyone else would like to host a mini-challenge, you are more than welcome. We will have a few scheduled Twitter chats again (and perhaps some more reading sprints).

If you are wondering, I didn't type that; just copied it, but nonetheless, I am joining up and I hope that some of my followers will as well.  I don't know how much I will be able to get done, as that coincides with my birthday weekend, but I will do what I can.

A Winter's Respite Readathon (Jan 23 - 29) #WintersRespite

It's time for another Read-a-thon!  A Winter's Respite Read-a-thon is being hosted by The True Book Addict and is starting tomorrow, Jan 23.  It will run through next Sunday, Jan 29.  I am really busy tomorrow, but depending on what happens throughout the week, I should be able to get quite a bit done, especially since I have quite the pile that I plan on tackling.

I realize that its quite a bit, but some of them should be fairly quick, like The Cat's Table and Harry Potter and Scarlet, if I spend the time reading them.  I do have most of Friday available to me to read and about 3 evenings are free of obligations and with shows basically going dark for about a week or two, I should have time to read quite a bit.
